Our worship of God involves each person who attends! When he washed the feet of his disciples, Jesus called them to serve one another, a call into which we are baptized. As a liturgical minister, people place their gifts at the service of the community to assist our worship of God. Take a look at how our parish family comes together in praise of God!

Holy Cross Parish offers Children's Liturgy during our 8:30 AM & 10:30 AM Masses.
This ministry is for children ages 3 to first grade. Children are dismissed after the opening of Mass to hear and discuss the scripture readings of the day. This is a great way for them to hear and talk about Bible lessons in a language they understand. Teen and adult volunteers are needed for this ministry on an ongoing basis!
This ministry runs from mid-September to mid-May. If you are interested in being a leader, please get in touch with the parish office for more information.
Volunteer to be a helper! This opportunity is great for Silver Cord and service hours.
When we gather for Liturgy, the Altar Servers take responsibility for freeing the presider from various details so he may give full attention to presiding.
All students in Grade 4 through High School are invited to be altar servers. Training is typically offered in early fall and as needed.
Our Eucharistic Ministers of Holy Communion assist the Celebrant at each of our Masses in distributing communion to the congregation. Ministers need to be commissioned through the Diocese of Sioux City and are retrained every 2 years.
In addition, several of our ministers also take communion to our homebound parishioners and some community homes.
We ask God’s blessing on our Eucharistic Ministers.
Our Music Ministry is open to all parishioners. It is composed of parishioners who have the desire to sing and worship the Lord. If you play a musical instrument and would like to use your talent for the Lord, we have a place for you. The Music Ministry provides an avenue through which individuals may share their gifts and be an integral part of the worship.

Along with our deacons and priests, Holy Cross lectors are entrusted with the crucial task of making the word of God come alive for the parishioners gathered at the weekday, Saturday, Sunday, and Holy Day Masses. Our parish is blessed with a diverse group of men and women who combine the power of the Word of God with their personal faith and public speaking skills.
Lectors for weekend Masses are assigned to proclaim both the first or second Scripture reading. A Lector for daily Mass is assigned to read the first Scripture reading and the psalm.
Serving as a lector provides an enriching addition to your spiritual life and your understanding of the scriptures.
Our parishioners who serve as ushers welcome those arriving for the weekend and Holy Day Masses, take up weekly offering collections, control the flow of communicants, distribute parish bulletins, and perform any other necessary tasks. Ushers contribute effectively toward making the worship experience a reverent one for parishioners and visitors. Adults and teens, both male and female are welcome.
